Well, we are on the other side of our big move! The first week was rough - no cable or internet initially and our stuff was everywhere. The girls went the most crazy! We couldn't find our coffee maker for the first week, either.
A good friend brought over a picnic lunch for the girls and some Panera for me on movers day. It was pouring rain, the dish network man was up our roof, and the movers were bringing in boxes faster than I could tell them where to drop them.
Cable finally! The girls would at least sit still while we continued to unpack and so I could painter's tape some curtains up :)
Once the rain stopped, our muddy yard was sodded! We will tackle more formal landscaping next spring, but are happy the mud is covered up.
The front porch was cozied up a bit. Red door to come next spring as well. We have way too many other things to paint!
Our neighborhood is built into the bottom of a large hill. Last week, the leaves began to change all at once and it was so pretty. We have definitely not taken our views for granted coming from the flat landscapes of both Blaine and Oswego.
I mean, this is my drive home from Target!
When choosing our lot, we wanted to make sure we maximized our sun exposure to the back of the house. At our last house, we got early morning sun and late evening sun and while our house stayed pretty cool, it always felt sort of dreary during the midday. Well, we have southern exposure all right. I'm sure we are going to have to get some thermal panels for next summer, but for now we are enjoying all of the bright light! We also catch some amazing sunsets.
The 3 windows in our office/playroom are my favorite.
I traded our wooden buffet from the old house for a set of these black shelves. They are perfect in our dining room and of course I stopped everything I should have been doing to accessorize them. It's the little things that feel like home, though.
And lastly, besides one purple and one pink bedroom (the girls rooms!), the only other room to be painted is this wall in our office/playroom. We've got to reconfigure the cords from the desk, but this wall called for something dramatic. We are both loving it.
Mostly, this is just to let everyone know we are alive and well - though really busy getting settled. It's really starting to feel like OUR home lately.
There is so much more to document about our move - stay tuned!
