We spent a week in mid-February visiting my parents in California. I was a little gun shy after our illness ridden November trip, but we had an amazing week. Mother nature knew we needed some relief from Minnesota's painful winter and she delivered a spectacular week of weather. The temperature increased everyday we were out there, topping off with a few 90 degree days. We weren't complaining about the heat, though!
Pat and I ran a half Marathon relay on Sunday in 65 degree sunshine. It was glorious. I had been trying to train outside which meant I never ran in weather warmer than 30 degrees, usually through snow drifts, or at the local indoor track. We ran the last leg together (at my snails pace) and were greeted by our cheering girls at the finish line!
The sunrise is postcard worthy from the backyard.
We ate dinner outside some of the nights - it makes me even more anxious for warm weather back home.
The girls swam everyday until they'd swallowed gallons of salt water and their hands/feet were all wrinkly. Fiona's taking a poolside strawberry break - licking the bowl : )
Also getting anxious to garden again. My talented mom is now a master gardener - can you tell!?!
We visited the The Living Desert which is a desert themed zoo.
We waited patiently in line to feed the giraffes. There were 3 more people ahead of us when the giraffes decided they were full and walked away. We were bummed, but we did get a great view.
Zebe!
During an animal show we were sitting in the amphitheater and glanced up to see a group of bighorn sheep scaling the mountain top. You can make out a few silhouette's in the picture below.
We ended the day with a carousel ride.
Finley had perfected her princess wave by the last few revolutions : )
More to come...
