10 Months

Well, we survived the flu, strep, colds, and an ear infection in the last 10 days.  Ugh.  Onto Fiona's update :)

We are dangerously close to a one year old around these parts.  The good news is that spring is pretty close as well.  (I type this as we still have a bunch of snow on the ground!)

Her hair is growing and she has little "wings".  I hope she has come curl to her hair - like Papa!

Fiona is on the move nearly constantly now.  Mostly crawling and pulling up onto anything she can grab onto.  The gate is up at the top of the stairs (which is such a bummer for Finley who was used to going up/down without having to ask for help) but it wrangles in Fiona.  She can climb the stairs if she gets the chance.  She is pulling things down, chewing on chalk at the chalkboard, and trying to stand up in the tub.

Above, the first nap I caught her standing.  Mischievious grin ;)

I do love her moving around, but man it is stressful when Finley has lots of toys with little tiny pieces.  Toys have now been designated for her room only or at the table/ottoman only.

Fiona loves to throw anything onto the ground - especially her sippy cup and spoon.  Speaking of which, she is eating well.  Still some pureed baby food and as much finger foods as I can think of (mostly so we can all eat in peace at the same time without mom having to spoon feed her).  She doesn't seem too picky - eating avocados, oranges, bananas, cereal, toast, raspberries, carrots, peas, and especially any kind of past (macaroni and cheese or spaghetti).  A few weeks ago, when she was sick, and for a week or so afterwards she wanted nothing to do with her bottles and I kinda thought she might just be done with them all together.  But, as of late she is mostly back to sucking them down at rapid speed.  Maybe she's going through a growth spurt!

She is still sleeping well at night - 6:30-6:30 or so, but occasionally wakes before the sun rises.  She used to snuggle in bed with us and fall back asleep, but she is way too interested in looking around, poking me in the eye, or crawling to the edge of the bed to sleep.  Her naps are less magical - usually one at 9am and one at 1pm, but the afternoon one is hit or miss in length.  There are days she would rather stand up, dance, and scream for mom than sleep.

She's still a thumb sucker, though it's only when she's tired or falling asleep.  I know I will probably not be happy about it if she needs braces some day, but it is so much better than a pacifier because it never falls out and it never lost!!  Most times I put her to bed at night, her thumb is in before she even  hits the mattress.  It's pretty cute.

She is jabbering away and can say "bye-bye" and "hi", as well as "da-da" and "ma-ma".  She waves for high and bye-bye, which is too cute.  In the last few days she has been grunting/fake crying when she wants to be picked up.  Bring on more communication abilities because the grunting drives me crazy.

She is starting to be an interactive little sister - jumping on Finley and annoying her when Finley is trying to do something important.  Finley is usually a good sport, but I can imagine this will only get more intense in the next few years.

Birthday planning has begun...
