The first week flew by in the blink of an eye! Our transition to a family of 4 and one with a new baby went better than I could have planned for!
Here she is right out of the hospital - catching her first dose of vitamin D :)
Thus far, she loves to sleep. Sometimes up to 4-5 hours at a time and I am enjoying it because I know it won't last.
After her first bath - she didn't love it! The second one went much better.
Fiona and I picked up the new double stroller on Wednesday morning at Baby Grand. I was so proud of myself for such a major outing only a few days after her birth and I was brave enough to nurse her in the car parked on Grand Ave (she was hungry!) I have tried to be out for a walk everyday - weather permitting and it has done wonders for my hormones and attitude. With Finley, we didn't walk until she was a month old and I went stir crazy.
Finley loves having her sis next to her in the stroller!
Finley's adjustment has gone better than expected, but we are seeing a bit more attitude - especially during the witching hours (4-7pm) but have been trying to be extra loving and understanding. Mostly, it's just been more whining than usual. As far as being around Fiona, she loves to pat her head and try to give her blankets, pacifiers, stuffed animals, etc. It will be a while before they can be alone together! Finley has also showed an even stronger interest in mothering her babies and animals. The baby equipment is in constant use.
Finley is at daycare M-Th 9am-1pm for some socializing, lunch, and to give me some time for bonding with Fiona (and catching up on my sleep). When she's home, she's pretty independent in her playroom which has been a huge blessing.
Fiona has been sleeping a lot, even at night. Her typical schedule at night consists of eating around 8, midnight, 3 or 4, and 6:30 or 7. Pat and I have been trying to catch some consistent sleep from 9pm-midnight and then whatever we can for the rest of the night. I'm not sure if I'm more seasoned this time around, or if she really is sleeping more than Finley did, but it doesn't seem that bad (YET!) I'm sure it will catch up with me, but I am following the advice to sleep when she sleeps this time around :) Fiona is also an awesome eater and after the initial pain of nursing, it's been pretty easy.
I even had the time and energy to clean and make our bed for the first time without a gigantic belly causing me shortness of breath!!
And lastly, we've gotten so many great meals and treats from family and neighbors! Any extra pounds I keep after this can be blamed on the loaves of pumpkin bread, almond poppysead bread, blueberry coffee cake, cookie bouquet (Finley loved the "cookie Minnie"), chocolate chunk cookies, and other dinners : )
