Basement update

In mid-january, Greg (brother-in-law) drove up with all of his tools and knowledge of basement finishing and
worked wonders on our basement with Pat's help.  It was an awesome and generous gift of his time.

This is the landing at the bottom of our stairs (to the R in this pic) where a desk will eventually be built into the back wall.  The storage room is the back door on the L and the bathroom is the front door on the R.  They laid laminate and did the trim work + doors!  Everything is still extremely dirty in these pictures, deal with it : )

If you turned around 180* from the pic above, you would see the family room below.
The double doors hide the mechanicals and under stair storage.
The TV will hang on the back wall.

This is a wider shot of the family room.  The couch will sit against the R side of this picture facing the TV with a chaise running along the window.  Please note that it looks like April outside - weirdest winter ever.

Next up is the bathroom: the thorn in their side.  Uneven walls, difficult to work with slate, and a request from me to have planked panelling installed...it was a bit of a nightmare (or so I hear), but I LOVE it : )
The panelling goes up 6' (dreamy)!  You can see one of the sconce electric boxes in the picture as well as the toilet (R) and vanity (L) plumbing.  No lights are hooked up in here yet.

Close up of Pat's handy-work on the tile!

Close-up of the walls.  They still need to be caulked, sanded, and painted (a lot of the trim still needs this), so imagine that it's a creamy uniform white!

The bedroom trim is 95% finished, too.

From here, our to-do list is getting smaller.
Finish caulking and sanding, then paint all trim/doors.
Find a bathroom vanity - I can't decide on anything in this area...
Buy sconces for the bathroom and bedroom, a ceiling light for the bedroom and a bathroom faucet.
Have all plumbing and lighting installed
Paint the walls - I'm finalizing a color palatte in my head!
And, carpet!!

We have a fair amount of furniture that will be shifted from other areas of the house and have been hoarding Best Buy gift cards for a new TV, so hopefully the basement will be relatively livable by the time baby #2 arrives.  At the very least, we'll buy an Expedit and put all the toys downstairs.  They are driving me crazy!

K, it looks awesome already! I had no idea you had such a basement down there!
