Thirty

Saturday November 19th I turned the big 3-0!  I thought I'd planned a pretty nice night out for me and Pat: we were going to dinner at the Chatterbox Pub (their california burger is amazingness on a bun) and then to see The Descendants movie at the Uptown theater.  Sounds great, right?  Pat had arranged for 2 girls from his work to babysit Finley (who were so nice and evidently had been begging to babysit!).  We left the house just as our neighbor, Teresa, called and asked to borrow some board games for a family party she was having that night.  Out the door we went, games in hand.  We both rang the bell at Teresa's because they are usually chatty and well I don't know why else.  When we got to the door, Teresa wanted to ask my opinion on what color to paint a bench she had in her basement.  Without skipping a beat, I took off my boots and followed her into the house.

What I didn't know was that there were a few more neighbors in side waiting to say "Surprise!".  I was dumbfounded to say the least.

Here I am finally starting to put the pieces together.  A million thoughts were running through my head, like:
-that's odd that all the neighbors are here hanging out with Patrick and Teresa
-and there kids are here, we should go get Finley and bring her over
-wow, their appetizers look really good, I wonder who they're for
-popcorn at the movie sounds really good
-how did I not catch onto any of this!

We ordered out from a favorite Blaine restaurant and Pat had help from my mom to get my Absolute FAV.o.RITE cake (it was also our wedding cake).  Vanilla cake with almond buttercream and white chocolate shavings - delish : )

What a fun night - so not what I expected, but it really made me feel loved!

And the other best part: Pat had arranged the two babysitters to manage all 4 little girls.  They had their own party with pizza, cake, and watching a movie.  We returned to the house to find all of the girls sleeping with their blankies snuggled up on the couch.

And on turning 30:

Thus far I've had no issues with this big old age - haha
Really though, I kinda always thought/hoped that by 30 I'd have a super hubby, a job I loved, a few kids, and a house in a cozy little neighborhood that was just like the one I grew up in.
Check - no predictions for 40 though - ha.  Well, except one of the neighbors asked when we could start having our girls host sleep-overs so we could all sneak home after a neighborhood party without having the kids around...it was decided that for my 40th birthday Finley will host a smashing sleepover while the adults have their own party : )

I mean it's no surprise party in the Zenz's garage, but it sounds like you had a blast! Nice work, Pat!
