We decided the Fourth of July would be our inaugural bike trip with both girls. The poor bike trailer didn't make it out of the attic last summer due to baby Fiona. The girls were so excited!! Grandpa and Grandma Zenz biked along, too!
We started at Coon Rapids Dam (which was flowing like crazy) and biked to Elm Creek Park in Maple Grove. The trip was about 14 miles round trip. We promised the girls a gigantic park at the turn around point, and surprisingly they were super well behaved.
Fiona fell asleep with her large helmet on! Poor Finley had to deal with a sweating little sister hogging the seat and falling asleep on her shoulder.
I pulled the girls for the first 6 miles or so. It was rough, but I didn't realize just how much more work it was until we calculated the weight of the trailer (probably 75 lbs). We rotated the rest of the trip!
The park was amazing. It was pretty busy, but big enough to accommodate lots of kiddos.
Snack time!
Finley had enough courage to go down the BIG slides, after which she said "It really wasn't that scary, guys"
Riding home - Fiona's hair in full sweaty effect.
We celebrated with a BBQ at our house with Grandpa and Grandma.
That night, we let Finley stay up for the first time. She was more excited about the glow necklaces/bracelets and sparklers than she was with the fireworks. Maria and Finley held a few packs of sparklers while waiting for the show to begin!
From Maria's deck we could see 3 different shows, including an amazing one by someone in our subdivision that outlasted the Blaine show. The best part is walking across the street when its all over.
Finley was a tired mess the next day, but it was so fun celebrating America's birthday with her!
