Over Memorial weekend, we took our annual trip up to the north shore of Lake Superior. The weather is never fabulous, but this year it didn't rain (which it did a lot of in the cities!) and despite being somewhat sunny, it was cold and windy. We're hardy (or at least pretend to be) so we got outside and explored!
Family picture - so rare - at Gooseberry Falls
I'm not even sure spring had hit the north shore yet. You can see the tiny tree buds in the picture above. The falls were roaring with all of the melted snow and rainfall.
Fiona is not impressed :)
Blurry family picture taken by strange lady on the trail...but we had a full set of cabins this year! There were 20 of us total and 5 under 5 years old. It was crazy in our tiny cabins, but so much fun.
I've been to gooseberry probably over 40 times and tend to forget how magnificent this part of Minnesota is, but WOW mother nature!
Exploring caves
I asked for a cheesy engagement picture - Bryan was less than thrilled but did oblige :)
Howling like a timber wolf - her idea!
Our first night was a full moon!
The little grocery store (the only one within 30 miles!) had little carts that suited Finley just perfectly.
There was a shower for Bryan and Michelle complete with the kids favorite part - cake
No garbage disposals, so all extra food was fed to the seagulls.
Jameson, Charlotte, and Fin painting rocks
Campfire cookout on the last night. It was so freaking cold. Fiona was not pleased about it, but she managed to eat 2 hot dogs, 2 helpings of jello, pasta salad, and fruit salad. So all was not lost!
Playing on the rocks was her favorite activity. We'll be back up on Labor Day this year while Pat is on a boys trip.
