First off - to the Grandma's:
The girls had a great time playing with the chalk while I set this up. Well, Fiona gnawed on some chalk until I noticed, then she started chewing on rocks...
Finley drew a bunch of suns (her favorite thing to draw) and unfortunately they are not pictured.
My mother's day was fabulous. I learned a few years ago (my first mother's day) not to have any expectations..especially with little ones who don't know that today is a holiday and with the simple fact that mothering never really takes time off.
We met for brunch at Kozlak's with my family. I had 2 mimosas and 2 caramel rolls among other things, so there's that!
I'm looking - Pat is trying in the sunlight - the girls must be laughing at Grandpa!
The Matriarch
The girls made me these stepping stones, soon to find their way to the garden. Thanks to Grandma Kathleen for thinking up this - it is so sweet!
I got some uninterrupted time getting my hands in the dirt to plant some of my pots. Spring, finally :)
My mom also came over and we worked in the yard together as she continues to offer her gardening knowledge to me (and my neighbors!)
I got a great nap in the sunshine, we ordered out from Dixie Blue BBQ, and Pat bathed and put the girls to bed.
Pat and the girls were so thoughtful all day. I loved the cards they made me, the mom interview Finley did, and the tickets to the Basillica Block Party that Pat gave to me!!!
Gosh, being a mother is so hard. Most days I feel like I screw up, I lose my temper, I'm not always present, I'm in a rush. But somehow, with God's grace, my girls are thriving - turning out to be happy, social, kind beings and I realize I must be doing somethings right. I love them with all of my heart and at the end of the day, I just want them to know that. I did have a fabulous role model :)
