1. I painted the inside of our door to the garage with green chalkboard paint - love it. I got this idea about 2 years ago and it only took me this long to spend the 2 hours to put 3 coats on...
2. Finley is obsessed with her "sebra pack-back" because Dora/Diego (can't remember which one?) has one.
3. After a rough week with her (looking back I'm pretty sure she was overtired from her whirlwind trip to Chicago with dad and getting over a small cold) and her giving me sass after everthing I said, I was at my wits end and did some internet research in my "spare time" and asked my wise friends/neighbors with older kids for some advice on how to calm the tantrums. The straw that broke my back was leaving the park one night (which I despise doing alone with the 2 girls because I feel like I can't give either of them the attention they need). Finley had a complete melt down and was kicking and screaming (LITERALLY) while I lifted her out of the swing with poor Fiona in the baby bjorn and I mini-body-slammed her into the stroller for emphasis since I was obviously humiliated. She was in time out when we got home and I asked her to say sorry to me and she repeatedly said she wouldn't. Horrible night. Poor Pat when he got home from work.
The next morning she wanted to go to the park at 7am and when I said we couldn't go now but we could go later, she freaked out. And it was only 7am. Fail.
So, I decided I needed to be better prepared for her toddler personality. Enter #4:
4. We got a reward chart in the dollar aisle at Target. Her tasks everyday are to 1) listed to mama (I can decide when to enforce this!) 2) pick up toys before bed 3) drink her milk. She always drinks her milk and usually picks up, so I hoped I was setting her up for success with those 2. She gets stickers for each one and 3 stickers = popcicle! We don't do it everyday - somedays she doesn't need my redirection and that is a-okay with me.
5. Does she look like a little kid here (minus the diapers - ha)?!? How fast is she growing up :(
She went to daycare with her backpack on and said to me "I'm going to school, mom - to see my friends!!"
And when she came home from daycare and saw the chart for the first time she said" Mom, is that my homework?" She kills me - this girl!
The park has been much better since we've started this!!
