North Shore

We spent Memorial Weekend on the north shore of Lake Superior with some of my cousins and aunts, as well as the Zenz family.  The weather was dismal to say the least.  At least, we were prepared for it.

Finley loved all of the rocks - picking them up, throwing them into the lake, pretending they were crumpets at her tea party, etc.  And they just keep on giving as we've had many hours of fun painting them with watercolor paints over and over again now that we're home.
Megan, Fin, and Jill.  She had a riot with these two.
We found a wounded butterfly on the beach and took it home to put in Finley's bug carrier.  The guy was on his way out, but you'll see later Finley may have expedited that process.
Fiona was a sleep machine for most of the weekend : )  We were nervous to go on vacation at this age, but it actually was amazing because she still slept a lot.  A few more weeks and she'll be on some sort of schedule that we would've had to keep, but not this time!
Gooseberry Falls was awesome!  I have never seen this much water coming over the falls in the 20 some years I can remember.
Family pic at the falls (my shower was optional evidently), Fiona is back at the cabin with grandma, and Fin is passed out in the ergo.
We saw a cool storm rumble across the lake.  We enjoyed our cookout food on the grill (instead of the campfire), our happy hour around the kitchen table (instead of the picnic table), and played rounds of peanuts, scategories, and iphone games.  We did have a campfire on Friday night - during which Finley got re-aquainted with smores and had 2 before finally going to bed at 10pm (new bedtime record set!)
Poor butterfly underneath 2 heart shaped rocks.  No pets for us.
Standing in front of a cairn (cairns were all the chatter this vacation, seen up/down the shore, I learned something new having never paid attention to them)
Don't we look enthused to be standing in the 46 degree breeze off the lake?

Love the north shore. With your glasses on you look like Jo!
