Looking Ahead to 2012

As we jump into 2012, our family is gearing up for many changes!  Change is always hard (for me at least), but I also think that when I take time to look back over the past year, the changes are what pushed us to make tough decisions, rely more on each other and our faith, and figure out ways to make life work.  All of which feels really good in the end.  I never would have guessed that Finley would be at a new daycare, I'd be working less, Pat would have a new job, that he'd be commuting so far, or that we'd have some great new neighbors!

So this year, we are attempting to be more expecting of change - knowing that at first it will probably make us uncomfortable, but hoping it also makes us grow.

To hold myself somewhat accountable for my 2012 goals, here they are:
-Be more organized with meal planning and grocery shopping.  This saves us money and saves some sanity for me at 5pm each day.
-Keep the neverending paperwork coming into our home under some control.  Hopefully no piles on the countertops - or piles in the closet or drawers either
-Save eating out for more special occasions - pretty sure baby # 2 will make going out even less appealing for a while
-Embrace a more relaxed parenting style with baby # 2.  I'm vowing to stress less about nursing, sleep schedules, getting out of the house, everything.
-To get outside and be active a whole lot more.  Even in the winter.

We also have some exciting plans to look forward to this year:
-More work to be done on the basement - and the exciting finishing type stuff
-Finley's big girl room
-An out of town wedding without the kiddies
-Me taking this test for work so I can actually focus some energy elsewhere
-Pat figuring out more and more what his advisor position will look like
-Adding another little girl to our crazy life!!

I think the quote at the top is worthy of tatooing on my forearm (if I were the tat type).  We can't wait to look back at 2012 and see where we end up - how exciting!
