Finley's First Birthday Party was perfect! Not because the cake was delicious (it was amazing), or because the decorations were so cute (but they kind of were!), or because Finley didn't scream and have a tantrum (I was mentally prepared for this to happen, but it didn't)...but because we had such a great turn out of both family and chicagoland friends who got to mingle with our sweet little girl. And it was about 2 hours before the Bears game, so we were happy anyone showed up at all!
I kept things simple with balloons and homemade scrap garland.
Erin's friend made the delicious cake: stacked chocolate and vanilla with mascarpone filling and buttercream frosting. Best part of the party, I thought!
The party was sock monkey themed - in case that was hard to see :) I thought the cake was so cute. And of course Finley's little cake said "my cake - don't monkey with it".
She was shirtless for the cake eating, but it turns out she must have sensed her mom's OCD about messy eating - Fin kept it pretty neat. Pat had to shove her hand in the cake to get things started, but she liked the taste of frosting.
Everyone gathered around to sing happy birthday and Finley just sat there with a half grin taking it all in - no tears!
Get ready for cake eating overload...I could have uploaded about 15 more!
She had this random piece of hair sticking up after her nap, and short of gelling it down, Erin and I tried everything. Now I actually think it looks cute :)
Our personal favorite.
This may well be the biggest birthday celebration Finley won't remember!
And thanks to Grandma Morgan for amazing food and Aunts Erin and Annie who helped with all the crazy little details!! Love Ya's ;)
