O Christmas Tree

Pat decided that now that we have a baby girl, our family needs a new Christmas tradition - cutting down our tree!  We went the day after Thanksgiving and of course it was about 20 degrees outside.  The hardest part was keeping Fin warm :)  We went to a small hobby farm down the street from Michelle's house.  It's an old couple who have vegetable, eggs, pumpkins, and trees in the winter.  Finley loved their old dog that licked her hand and for $28 we got to pick out whatever tree we wanted.

Searching for the ONE!
Our neighbors told us that with kids, their philosophy has always been to get the sharpest tree possible so that the kids stay away.  We thought this school of thought sounded logical, so we bypassed all of the firs for a nice big spruce.

Pat cut through the trunk in no time  - faster than I could get a picture of the tree still standing!

Finley is not frozen yet...that happened in a few minutes!  Pat carried this tree out on his shoulders, even though I told him to drag it :)  We were walking in front of him and Finley couldn't stop laughing at the giant tree on top of her dad.

(sidenote: all I want for Christmas is a picture of my girl and I that is in focus...)
Finley had a royal meltdown once we got back to the car - I think she was partially frozen and had scraped her face on something.  I fed her in the backseat while Pat and the owner lifted the tree onto the top of his SUV.  This was no small feat.

The tree peaking out from the rooftop.
You can see our cute little car silhouette driving home.
She (the tree) looks pretty good up in the house!  And Finley is totally not interested in it.
