2 Weeks Old

Finley's 2nd week was full of new activities and memorable moments.  From our standpoint as parents, we got a lot more comfortable and started to get a tiny bit more sleep!  Hopefully she got a lot more comfortable living with us too!

Some highlights from the 2nd week include:

*Going to her 2 week doctor's visit where she weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces (almost back up to her birth weight) and round 1 of her Hep B vaccine (she cried for about 3 seconds, then was content to be held in mom's arms)
*Overall she is awake much more than the first week and when she is awake she is more alert and studying our faces and her surroundings instead of just wanting to eat
*She is also expressing herself more and we are learning to recognize a few of her different cries
*She has a new nickname given to her by me - "HIPPO" which relates to her being somewhat of a hungry, hungry hippo when eating (she grunts and squeals) It's pretty entertaining and I'm sure she'll appreciate this in her teenage years!

*Finley has gotten at least 1 outfit everyday (either in the mail or from visitors).

*Her umbilical cord is healed!

*She took a bottle for the 1st time (Dad gave it to her) and she sucked it down pretty quickly. I wish this were the end of the bottle saga, but alas she has been very picky about taking a bottle since then. She hates all of the bottles we registered for and of course you can't find the one type she really likes in stores, so I have ordered a few online. She is already a princess, I guess.
*Her sleep is slowly improving with one 3-5 hour stretch a night, usually between 6-7pm and midnight, but we are still getting up 3-4 times a night for feedings.

*We ventured out to our first ECFE class for new mothers and babies - she slept nearly the whole time, but did perk up for the singing and circle time right before the class was over

*She finally got to meet great grandma "B" - I don't know who enjoyed it more, Grandma B or Finley (my mom has a 3 generations picture I'll post when I get it).
*Mom has adjusted to Pat going back to work and despite a few tearful afternoons, is starting to feel more at peace with this "new normal".

Time is flying by!
